What Is Appendicitis ? Appendicitis is an acute inflammation of the appendix, and is condition in which there is is a pain in central abdomen or right abdomen, with symptoms of nausea and fever. If managed with conservative treatment, including intravenous fluids and antibiotics, the inflammation goes away in most patients; however, some people tend to have recurrent episodes of the disease, in which case they are advised surgical removal, with In order to avoid the risk of breakage of the appendix.

Ayurvedic Medicine For AppendicitisGreen Gram: Green gram is a proven home remedy for acute appendicitis. An infusion of green gram is an excellent medicine for the treatment of this condition. It can be taken in a small amount of one tablespoon three times daily.
Fenugreek Seeds: Regular use of tea made from fenugreek seeds has proved helpful in preventing the appendix from becoming a dumping ground for waste and excess intestinal mucus. This tea is prepared by putting a tablespoon of seeds in a quart of cold water and let it simmer for half an hour over low heat and then strained. Do allow to cool slightly before being drunk.
Vegetable juices: Certain vegetable juices have been found valuable in appendicitis. A particularly good combination is the 100 ml of each of the beet juice and cucumber mixed with 300 ml of carrot juice. This combined juice can be taken twice a day.
Buttermilk: Buttermilk is beneficial in the treatment of the chronic form of appendicitis. A litre of Buttermilk can be taken daily for this purpose.
Wheat Bread: The consumption of wheat, which includes bran and wheat germ, has been found beneficial in the prevention of various digestive disorders, including appendicitis. Wheat bran can be sterilized by boiling after a thorough cleaning. This sterilized bran can be added to wheat flour in the proportion of one to six by weight. Two or three chapatis made from this flour can be consumed daily to prevent this disease.
Ayurvedic Treatment for AppendicitisThe Ayurvedic treatment of chronic or recurrent appendicitis is antibiotic therapy and anti-inflammatory, pain control and the elimination of any residual obstruction in the appendix and to prevent recurrence. Medicines like Sukshma-Triphala, Triphala (Three fruits), Triphala Guggulu, Panch-Tikta-Ghrut Punarnavadi Guggulu Guggulu and are used for the treatment of local infections in the intestines. Other medications like Kutaj-Parpati and Panchamrut Parpati-can also help in this process. Medicines like Kamdudha-Ras, Ras Sutshekhar, Praval Panchamrut-Ras, Yashtimadhuk (Glycyrrhiza glabra), Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Praval Bhasma, Shankh Bhasma, Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Saariva (Hemidesmus indicus ) and Usheer (Vetiveria zizaniodes) are used to reduce inflammation in the appendix and adjacent parts of the intestines.
Medicines like Arogya-Vardhini, Punarnavadi Guggulu, Punarnavadi Qadha, Varunadi Qadha, Punarnava (Boerhaavia diffusa), Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum), Mandukparni (Centella asiatica), Nimba (Azadirachta indica), Daru-Haridra (Berberis aristata), Haridra (Curcuma longa), Chirayta (Swertia chirata) and Varun (Crataeva nurvala) are used to resolve any obstruction in the appendix and therefore reduce swelling, inflammation and the formation of lumps in the appendix. Medicines like Agnitundi-Vati, Vati-Vish-Tinduk, Shankh-Vati, Vati-Chitrakadi, Hingashtak Churna, Vati-Lashunadi, Vishwa (Zinziber officinalis), and Surya Kshar Yava Kshar are used to reduce pain in the abdomen and bloating. These drugs are also useful in the reduction or prevention of nausea and vomiting.
Most of these medications must be for a minimum period of three months, in order to achieve complete resolution of chronic appendicitis and minimize the chances of a recurrence of the disease. The same drugs are equally effective in acute appendicitis, however, there is an increased risk of perforation to be patient and caregivers know. Although the risk of perforation is much lower with chronic appendicitis, this risk should be noted that the patient and the physician should be alert to any signs and symptoms that may indicate a perforation. Once it is clear that appendicitis has completely solved, medicines like Suvarna-Sutshekhar-Ras and Suvarna Parpati-can be used to tone the intestines and further reduce chances of a recurrence.
